Thing a Day-2

(Please excuse poor photography)

The thing I love about ATC (Artist Trading Cards) is the small area to play with. , I would call them short cut to happiness. And when I am looking for a shorter-short cut, I go for inchies :)
The third card, right from second row, somehow reminded of Spong Bob. Those flowers and the blue color it was not intentional. May be it had something to do with the back to back episodes of Spong Bob I saw the other day.
And the thing with flower punch is, once I start using it, I cannot stop. I go around punching any thing and everything. I stopped whan I was about to punch an unpaid bill. (That's right people we still get paper bill :(

Thing a Day-1

Thing a Day-1

This spoon is actually a bisqueware that I made a while back and since then it has been begging for attention.
I guess it will be used specifically for decoration purpose in the kitchen. It actually symbolizes the unity of all my worlds...
It brings cooking, art and craft, recycling (I have decoupage the spoon using junk mail) and umm home decor (may be).
Also there is another snap shot of the spoon, with my lovely gloves.
And a shot of rest of the bisqueware of this set. I plan to do similar stuff to the rest of the lot.

Two is a company

If two is a company, three is a crowd, then what is four...I'd say beginning of a party :-)
No points for guessing my evening plans.

I made this one a while ago, but did not get a chance to post it.
I am struggling with "free-ing " myself. I mean, I don't let myself loose when I am painting. Specially I want to achieve this effect with backgrounds. I guess I need to do more practice...

Just having a regular Friday...I am not sure if I will be working tomorrow. (yes I have been working over the weekends.!)

Updates from "Denial" land

The word "denial" describes me best at the moment.
Really I am not able to handle things around me and all I have done to solve it so far is - have learned to ignore it.
Not good I tell you...
Ever since I am back from India...I have had 1 weekend of rest (jet lag) and since then its one thing after another. I was horrible ill for a while. And then its been mostly work which has been very very hectic lately. And without wasting any time the good thing was I got back to my working out routine, last week. The result was I got even more tired. In the past two week, I had hardly done any cooking .. forget about house cleaning...oh gosh...and its really really hard to live life with so much mess around. I have also been working over the weekends, and I think it really took its toll.
Today finally my friend P actually come home to help me with my house work...!!! can u believe it...!! Also for a change Enn had started taking care of the house because even he could not handle the mess around. (imagine!!)
So when I came back, the very day I saw a package waiting for me, those were lovely holiday wishes from wonderful and generous Gloria... I do not have my camera charged (the charger is misplaced), so I will upload the pictures later.
She sent me an awesome hand made ornament, a print of the painting she made of "Van Gogh's Mother." wait there's more...she also sent an original-exclusive-hand painted -one of a kind- bracelet...!!!!! wowooo
I am soo grateful and obliged and thankful...I cannot express it.
I a really lucky to have such a thoughtful and generous blogger friend.
Thank you very much Gloria....your gifts are appreciated from the bottom of my heart.

Since I ams soo much off my routine, I have a plan... :) (wicked smile...)
I have registered myself at http://thing-a-day.com/ .Its a yearly creative sprint where participants commit to creating one new thing a day for the month of February and post it on a collective blog. 2010 is thing-a-day's fourth edition .
From what I just found out and understand, when you register, you have to create a Posterous account. and then can link your Blog to it. So when I upload anything on this Posterous a/c, it will updated on Think-A -Day as well as my blog. I an not sure if I understood correctly, I will have to try it and find out.
So I will be gearing up in February . (Let's see... I have stopped trusting myself)

On a side note....I have again joined my pottery studio class, and have also joined a knitting class. Its for beginners . I have not planned what projects I plan to make in pottery / knitting.
I also have to catch up with my blogger friends, read updates at their end..ohh I am curious... :)

Quick Update

I am visiting my family India, and having the time of my life.
I will come back next year ;)
Everyone reading this...have a great Christmas and New Year.

Laurel Burch

On a beautiful evening of 30th Dec, I was with a lovely bunch of friends on the fabulous streets of Key West-Florida, we were rustling our way through the crowd of people and number of shops on the street and there I saw a cloud of most beautiful collection of colors looking at me through a shop window. When I took a closer look, it was actually a hand bag with a beautiful whimsical cat on it.

When I went inside the shop, I saw a lot of handbags, with similar pictures, all of the same artist. I instantly bought it. Its like my souvenir of Key West. And then inside it I found a card stating the artist name - Laurel Burch and a little information about her.
I googled her and saw her work and absolutely loved it. After that I saw her products all over and could identify them, just by looking at them.
Her paintings, the color scheme its all like a happy party. I will try and make some work inspired by her. Also today I searched her on you tube and came across these videos, which made me kind of sad, and also made me appreciate her spirit.

Random wisdom

Yesterday we saw a movie -"The International". No comments about the movie.
But heard some nice dialogues in it.

"Sometimes the hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn..."

"Sometimes a man can meet his destiny on the road he took to avoid it."

I have a habit of writing down quotes wherever I can pick them from.
From now on I will try and blog about them.
So now I will carry on with my lazy Sunday and continue denying the mess in the house.

bIRTHDAY cARD

Today is my dear friend Pr's birthday.
So I made her this card.

I love making hand made gifts, and specially cards/letters.
Me and Pr share a lot of hobbies, and spend a lot of time doing these things together...
Like pottery, shopping during sale, working out in gym & swimming (lately I ve not been very regular though) , painting, eating/drinking chocolate& ice-creams, and like all other girls...we luv pretty pretty dresses and shooz and perfumes and cosmetics... :) and spend a lot of time talking about it.

And inside I wrote....
"Out of all the things we like and share
our friendship is my favorite.
Thank you for being my friend!
Happy Birthday...!!!"

...Thiiiis much

Lately I am talking an art course - "World of Whimsy" which is by Tam.
I adore Tam...she is very funny...and is an awesome artist.
So yesterday I tried some of my newly learned lessons...and this came out.
I have much more to explore but "I am enjoying the process".

p.s. can you see she has two left hands...lol...it was really unintentional...and not related to my earlier post.

What do u do with two left hand rubber gloves

Caution: You might find following article overrated*. :)
Disclaimer: You might already know this. Just sharing my idea. ;)

Alright does the title sounds bizarre...no really I have a reason...
I have a habit of wearing rubber gloves when I am washing dishes. We have a dishwasher, but I end up washing some by hand, specially the pots and pans. Also while doing the usual kitchen cleaning, I use them.
Not that I am very skin conscious, well its partly the reason, but also I like the shield when my hand is in water/hot water.
In this process after couple of months or so,the left hand glove would remain intact, but the right hand glove would be torn. I guess because I am righty.
I tried all gloves in every price range, and ended up with a collection of left hand rubber gloves because all the right hand once were torn.
I also tried wearing the left hand glove in my right hand, and that was not a good idea, it stressed my hand. The way these gloves are built, they are meant for specific hands.
So in the cycle of buying and using and collecting odd gloves...
It finally hit me...I got the perfect idea, to use them...just turn the left hand glove inside out...!!! and there you have a right hand glove..!!!!
...Taa Daaa.... :)

See..! I warned you about overrated*.
Never mind...for a change here's a idea that has helped me a lot...and I have been using it every single day...more than 3 times a day and there.. its worth it!!!
