Seasons....& Concerns

This is another painting on canvas I did a while back...
I was inspired from a image from I-stock Images.com.
I thought it was a beautiful idea...summing up the whole year from the perspective of a tree.

But slowly the picture might change...courtesy - Global Warming.
This is not me talking, this is what I have picked up from watching Discovery and National Geographic. My ideas here are very limited and are influenced by the shows I have viewed on these channels about pollution, rise in temperature, deforestation.

I have a very "end user" perspective about this, but still I will voice it.

Lately I suffer from this fear that we are all heading to our our last day...(which we are any way...but I am talking from a human species point of view..)

Every day when I am taking my shower, I feel...its a luxury and any minute now, the water with stop coming (I somehow manage my 20 min+ hot shower).

Any plastic bottle I see...I am worried, weather it will make to a recycling place...or a landfill. Its PLASTIC...it will remain FOREVER in the landfill. I immediately flip it and see does it has the little recycling triangle on it or not.

Recently (last week) I went around in my area, and found out about the Recycling center where I can go and recycle glass, plastic, metal. So I am taking my initial steps!

All this has caused a chaos in my mind and literally leaves me clueless...
I am trying itty-bitty right steps, but my mind is not at peace...

Kusudama Flowers...

I found this amazing tutorial at Folding Trees, and what pretty flowers...!!!
Also I thought this was an amazing way to recycle old magazine pages.
Though the one I used had relatively thick pages.

Another good idea while making these is to use paper clips...to hold the petal together when its joined with the glue and then, to hold the whole flower together, when those five petals are glued together.
Once the glue dries, the paper clips can be removed.

After a point it gets very addictive...!!

Pages from my note-book

As a kid when a new school year began, I use to have a notebook for each subject (like everybody else) and then I also use to have my personal "drawing notebook".
I thought may be I should start that again.
Its fun, its easy and it really makes me happy.
So I started with this lil 5.5*8.5 notebook....and I since then I have been doing random stuff.

Clay Whistles fired and glazed..!!

Remember the clay whistles I hand built...
now they are fired and glazed....
It was really really exciting to see Iinky & Pinky finally.

They look soooo innocent....and sound really nice... :)

Quick Cooking

Lately I am on a quest to find quick vegetarian recipes...

I have realized that eating out-ONLY because I was too tired/lazy/busy to cook sends me on a guilt trip. And I am trying to avoid it...

One of my favorite super quick recipe is "Pulav"...and since I cook it in a pressure cooker, its literally done in 10 mins.

Tha video is by Mallika Basu, who also has this ammzing website
www.quickindiancooking.com

The name sounds like music to my ears....

Random Wrap

These are very quick project, and I HAD to do something, since I have not done something since a long long time..

These were Morton Salt cans, and serving a good purpose now... i.e. d-cluttering...

The plant is pretty much hiding it, but this was a tin-can of ghee which I have wrapped up with a wall paper border. Also the wall paper border remains pretty much resistant to water, which is convenient.

I have wrapped these shoe boxes in this lovely chess paper , actually there are a couple of them, it sits under the TV between the CD player and stores CD's and more CD's ...

REuse-REduce-REcycle

Charm-ing

I made these little charms, I glazed some and few I just left for later miniature creativity. So this week end, I had a lotta fun with these...

My spring delights

So today I got a batch of some of my glaze ware. When it comes to work on wheel, I am nowhere close to the center, in fact all of these are a bit off center but well...I luv pottery, if I continue doing it, someday I will improve.
This one is my fav., with a lovely heart.

This one is for Enn, with his initials on:

This one again has a pretty pretty heart. It also had a secret patch work :)

I also made these lil jars with lids.
I plan to keep fennel seeds in this one...

This one's lid is a little miss fit...but well

I also experimented some with theses pendents...

Heena

Me and my best friend R. This is a pics from my wedding.
I absolutely love applying heena in my hands.
Umm but somehow it was something I could never do on my own. I tried to teach my self, did a lot of practice, I was alright on paper, but when it came to hand it never worked.

This is another pic from my wedding, of course its Enn holding my hand, during some ritual.
I wish I could draw something like that on my own...

So I came across this amazing website- http://www.hennapage.com/
with a lot of information on Heena, and a lot of books on it.
In fact it also has a very detailed step by step tutorial to learn drawing Heena from scratch.
Here it is.

Here is the link to all the incredible collection of books on heena.

And really the patterns are so beautiful, that not only heena....they can be used any where...hop on the ride of your imagination and it can take you places.
